Seamless for teamwork

We signed up for the Organization Plan after using the Professional Plan for a while. The onboarding for our larger team was managed well. We specifically used the Design Systems and Component Libraries heavily, which kept everything consistent across multiple projects. The Multi-player Editing feature is still a standout, making reviews and iterations much faster. My only minor complaint is that the Figma Mobile App is still a bit limited for actual editing on the go, but it's fine for viewing. Support was responsive when we had a question about setting up specific user roles.

Easy to jump into

So, I decided to try out Figma Design for a UI project last month. It was pretty easy to get the hang of, even for someone like me who's not a pro designer. The collaborative editing was super neat; I could see what my friend was doing in real-time. Didn't love that I needed to be online all the time though, sometimes my internet acts up.

Easy upgrade

Upgraded my account. It was quick. Got the Professional plan. Works great. No issues with payment. Just wish they had more direct contact support options.

Great value, minor hiccup

I switched to the annual Professional Plan for Figma Design to save some money, and it was a good decision. The features like Auto Layout and Interactive Components are powerful for our design needs. Customer service was responsive when I had a question about billing, which was reassuring. The platform is generally very stable. I did notice a slight lag when working on very large files with many artboards, which can interrupt the flow, but it's not a dealbreaker given the overall value and collaboration capabilities.

Good for quick design work

I used Figma Design for a small project. It worked well for wireframing. The browser access was handy. Setup was fast. Wish the file export options were a bit more diverse.

Good for design stuff

Started using Figma Design for a side project. It was pretty easy to get started, even though I'm not a pro designer. The free Starter Plan got me hooked, then I paid for the Professional plan to get more space and features. Collaborative Design is super handy when I shared it with a friend for feedback. Shipping was, well, it's software so no shipping, haha. My only minor thing is sometimes it gets a bit slow if I have too many tabs open in my browser, but that might just be my computer. Overall, happy with it.

Solid collaborative design tool

I upgraded to the Professional Plan for Figma Design and FigJam recently. The ordering process was smooth, and access was immediate after payment. We primarily used it for a new web app project, focusing on the prototyping features and shared component libraries. The real-time collaboration worked flawlessly, making our team's workflow much more efficient. Version History was also a lifesaver for tracking changes. My only minor complaint is that some advanced plugins took a bit longer to load than I expected, but overall, it's a powerful tool for serious design teams.

Reliable for projects

This was my third time upgrading my plan with Figma, this time moving to the Organization Plan for a bigger client. Each time, the process has been consistent. I've always appreciated how stable the platform is, even with many people in a file. I've used their Advanced Prototyping quite a bit across various projects, and it's always delivered. Compared to my first upgrade a couple of years ago, the Dev Mode integration has made handoffs much smoother, though I still find myself looking for certain features to be more prominent in the UI sometimes. It's why I keep coming back.

Renewal price for the Professional plan was higher than I expected this month. Anyone else notice this?

R RohanK 1 month ago
Yeah, mine went up too. I think my annual billing discount must have ended, but I wasn't expecting such a jump.

Did you try contacting support? Sometimes they can explain it better.

Same here! It felt like a pretty big increase without much warning.

My Professional plan renewed at the same rate, but I'm on annual billing. Maybe that makes a difference?

P PriyaS 1 month ago
Oh, good point. I'm on monthly so maybe that's why.

I'm still on the Free Starter Plan so no issues yet, but this makes me nervous about upgrading.

Can I cancel my subscription easily if I don't like it? Or is it a big hassle?

A Abigail W. 1 month ago
I canceled my professional plan once and it was super straightforward in the account settings. No real issues.
2
S Sean Scott 4 weeks ago
Yeah, it's pretty simple to cancel. Just go to your billing settings. Refunds depend on their policy, but canceling the next renewal is easy.

Is Figma better than Adobe XD for real? I'm trying to decide between the two for my team.

H Hannah Johnson 1 month ago
Oh man, for collaboration, Figma blows XD out of the water. Real-time editing is just so much smoother.
1
A Abigail J. 1 month ago
I used both, honestly, Figma's prototyping and dev mode are way more robust. XD feels a bit clunky now, especially with design systems.

Finally switched our team from Adobe XD to Figma yesterday. Wish I'd done it sooner, the collaborative design features are a game changer.

N NehaG 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
Right? The multi-player editing is just so much smoother. We used to waste so much time with version control.

How was the learning curve for your team coming from XD?
6
K KiranL 1 week ago
Totally! And FigJam for whiteboarding before going into Figma Design just clicks.
6
M MeeraJ 1 week ago
Big move! We made that switch last year. Dev Mode has been a massive help for our developers.

A ArjunR 1 week ago
Yeah, we're slowly introducing Dev Mode, seems promising.

Any tips for getting devs onboard with it quickly?

I'm still deciding between the two. What about prototyping features, any noticeable difference there?

how does the free starter plan work? is it super limited or can I actually get some stuff done on it?

N Nick 1 month ago
You can totally do a lot on the free plan! It's great for personal projects or small teams. You get enough files and features to learn and create.
5
G Grace H. 1 month ago
It's pretty generous actually. You get core design tools and limited files, but it's enough to mess around with, or even for some smaller client projects before upgrading.

I'm a student, how do I apply for the free plan? Is it automatic?

A Alex Taylor 1 month ago
Nah, not automatic. You have to go to their education page and apply with your student email and proof. It takes a bit but it's 100% free for students.
3
M Mary Wilson 1 month ago
You need to fill out an application. Make sure you use your school email and probably show them your student ID or something. It's a specific process.

hey is there any way to get a discount on figma right now? like a promo code or something?

S Sam N. 1 month ago
usually, they don't do regular promo codes. I think they mostly have discounts for students or non-profits, you have to apply for those.
3
M Melissa W. 1 month ago
Yeah, if you're a student or teacher, it's free actually. Otherwise, you save a bit if you pay for the whole year instead of monthly, like 20% off.

What's the difference between the Professional and Organization plans? My team is growing and we need something more robust.

J James Thompson 1 month ago
Organization gives you way more admin controls, like centralized billing and single sign-on, plus advanced analytics. Good for bigger companies wanting more control.
0
B Ben Martin 1 month ago
Professional is good for most teams, but Organization adds things like versioning control, private plugins, and better security features, which is key for enterprise stuff.

Are there any plans to get Figma Weave for free? Like a beta or something I can sign up for?

S Sofia Smith 1 month ago
I heard about a beta access thing for Weave, but it's not always open. You might need to keep an eye on their announcements or wait for an invite.
4
S Sofia Green 1 month ago
I got into a Weave beta last year through an event they had. Keep checking their site or social media, sometimes they open it up.

I'm thinking of switching from monthly to annual billing for my professional plan. Does that actually save me money?

D David Torres 1 month ago
Yep, it does. I switched last year and it was like 20% cheaper overall. Worth it if you plan to stick with it.
1
L Lisa Garcia 1 month ago
Definitely saves you a good chunk. I think it's around 20% off compared to paying every month. No brainer if you're committed.
